Every year I attend Guerilla Union’s “Rock The Bells” concert.  This being the 7th one, I seriously was looking forward to this years show! The line up was crazy!!!!

The saturday before I spun at Trey Songz/Monica concert and then Emtourage Lounge and the alcohol had me spinning.  So uhhhh, I over slept for the trip to Columbia MD.  The doors opened @ 11, got on the hwy at 10 for a 3 hour drive, a 3 hour drive.  So I get there outside of a few traffic jams and many MJ classic songs later (MJ Bday was the 29th), arrived @ the Merriweather Pavilion around 3:30ish.  Just missed Krs-One performance…pissed.  Missed Rakim earlier, not so pissed.  Primo was on stage with a Guru tribute…ehhhhhhhh not a good tribute to me.  I would’ve thought that it would be the best Guru tribute ever.  Poorly executed in my opinion but hey that’s just me.  Then scheduled at 4:30 is L-Boogie!  Set is on stage…it’s just a few songs coming over the house system for about 15 minutes..then Supernaturel comes out and do the classic freestyle from items in the crowd!! DOPE!! ..another 15 minutes pass after that her dj played a few classics…the crowd starts to get agitated.  All of a sudden, the stage crew starts to pull of Lauryn Hill’s band equipment off the stage.  The crowd starts booing!!!! Like loud Waka is on stage trying to freestyle type booing!  Supernat comes back out to say that “Lauryn Hill is in the back not feeling well and we’re trying everything possible to get her well to come out and perform!”  The boo’s get louder! “Don’t shoot the messenger” and also brought out the promotor of the annual Rock The Bells to save the rep of the show.  I thought that was a Stupid Dope Move(Chucky from the movie Fresh voice).  So my big homey PMD…Peter Rosenburg comes out entertains the crowd! Said “Fuck McNabb” a few times and then brings on A.T.C.Q.

I totally forgot about the L-Boogie situation while Tribe performed the Midnight Mauraders classic album!  All of a sudden, Busta comes out and does the 1st verse to “Stop The Party” then on the beat Q-Tip starts to perform his verse from “Scenerio”.  The Ali-Shaheed Muhammed threw on the Scenerio beat and Busta went INNNNNNNN! Classic!!! So then they bring L-Boogie’s band stuff back out and then after another 30 min. wait she finally comes on looking like Helen Willis with a Yankee fitted!!!

If you missed the finals..congrats to the 2010 champ..Hops reppin’ P-Town

I knew the day eventually come, its actually not here yet but I feel like its here! The 5th Element of Hip Hop on http://www.103jamz.com (@103jamzradio) is the last mixshow on commercial radio that plays authentic progressive underground hip-hop during primetime hours. 9:20pm eastern time to be exact. Due to FM radio’s constant demise from the horrible music, the most inaccurate way to detect listenership to corporate takeovers..the 5th Element can possibly over very soon. This is my blog/site so I can voice my opinion. The companies that own radio stations main objective is to make money! Not to entertain their listeners any more. Not to bring the best product. For the last 4 years, they’ve been training us to what they(people that are out of touch) tell us what you(the listeners) want to hear! I have a passion for turntablism and to bring good music to your ears but to them that’s not important anymore. It is to me and it will always be. This was gonna be long and drawn out but I’m making myself mad so in closing..that day when the 5th Element is two thousand twelved, it will live on Fresh Radio!! **coming soon**
