Presidential Debate Watch Night Party at Norfolk State University
(Portsmouth, VA) – the Urban League of Hampton Roads, Inc. and the Urban League of Hampton Roads Young Professionals will host the National Day of Empowerment “Drum Up the Vote” Watch Night on October 22, 2012. The event will take place on the campus of Norfolk State University (NSU) at the new Student Center from 6:00-10:30 p.m. The event will start outside the NSU Student Center with a Pep Rally featuring various local, state, and national speakers, and will end with a Presidential Debate Watch Party inside the Student Center, Room 149.
“Drum Up the Vote” is part of a series of events across the nation during the Urban League’s National Day of Empowerment on October 22nd-October 27th. National Day of Empowerment is an initiative that will bring about the collaboration between the National Urban League, the National Urban League Young Professionals and the National Council of Urban League Guilds. Through this alliance, the Urban League family will focus on getting people ready to vote as well as eliminating political obstacles. The National Urban League has selected the Norfolk location to participate in activities for this initiative.
About the Urban League of Hampton Roads Young Professionals
The Urban League of Hampton Roads Young Professionals (ULHRYP) is a network of young professionals, across Hampton Roads, Virginia who provide leadership development, economic empowerment and community volunteer opportunities for other young professionals. The organization trains, develops, and educates young professionals to take leadership roles within the National Urban League, the civil rights movement, and society-at-large. Members of ULHRYP are defining, developing, implementing, and leading the next generation civil rights agenda.
